2 Injured in Industrial Accident in Bradley County

This was recently the case in Tennessee. Two workers were injured when an explosion occurred at a factory in Bradley County. The incident happened on the morning of May 13 at Amaero Advanced Materials & Manufacturing on Innovation Drive in Georgetown.
Cleveland Police Department officers responded to a report of an explosion at the plant. Two workers were taken to local hospitals with severe burns. One was airlifted.
The Chattanooga Fire Department handled one of the patients. It was initially believed that the person had come in contact with titanium dust. Chattanooga firefighters set up decontamination and entered the contained area outside of the ER. They assessed the patient and found that they had sustained burns from a lithium battery explosion. Firefighters ensured there was no hazardous material on the patient. The patient was then turned over to Erlanger officials for further treatment.
The other patient was taken to a hospital in Atlanta. The condition of the workers is currently unknown. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the workplace accident.
While there is no danger to the public, people were asked to avoid the area that afternoon.
Amaero is an Australia-based company that has more than 100 workers in Bradley County.
