Ice Cream Recalled Due to Unlisted Ingredients

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream. But those who have recently purchased Helados Mexico and La Michoacana ice cream products may not exactly be screaming for joy. If they’re allergic to milk products, they could become seriously ill with an allergic reaction.
Tropicale Foods, based in Ontario, California, has voluntarily recalled select Helados Mexico and La Michoacana ice cream products after discovering that some labels list “cream” but fail to clearly declare “milk” as an ingredient. The oversight, found during a routine label audit, poses a serious health risk to individuals with milk allergies.
Under federal law, milk is a major allergen and must be explicitly listed on product labels. Failing to identify milk can trigger dangerous or even life-threatening allergic reactions in sensitive individuals, making accurate labeling critical for consumer safety.
The recall includes both single-serve and multi-pack frozen treats in flavors such as Coconut, Strawberry, Bubble Gum, Cookies and Cream, Mango, and Rompope. Affected products have best-by dates ranging from May 2026 to July 2027 and were distributed nationwide.
