3 Killed After Car Goes Into Creek in Knoxville

A recent freak accident in Tennessee involved a car going into a creek after a driver went off the road and hit two pedestrians. All were killed in the crash.

The fatal accident occurred on the morning of June 22. Knoxville police and fire crews responded to the crash, which happened near North Broadway at Cecil Avenue in North Knoxville. The car was heading north when it collided with a light pole and then hit two pedestrians on the east bank sidewalk of First Creek Greenway. The vehicle then veered off the west bank of First Creek before rolling down the embankment several times.

The driver, a 60-year-old woman, died at the accident scene. Both pedestrians were also killed but they have not yet been identified.

The crash caused roads to be closed from Cecil Avenue to Grainger Avenue. The cause of the accident is still under investigation by Knoxville Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team.
